Maricarmen Merino is a Costa Rican filmmaker. She lived and studied film in Mexico City. She has directed both fiction and documentary films. Her work explores the thin divide between universal, personal and political themes. Her broad movie-making experience in various capacities gives her a wholistic understanding of film. She has worked as a director, editor, producer, actress and sound technician in a wide range of projects.
